On August 10th 2025 at 2pm New York pianist Lisa Moore and Melbourne violinist Peter Exton will present their duo program “Beethoven’s Spring: Prophets and Prophecies”.
Peter Exton
Anchored in Beethoven‘s beguiling Spring Sonata and moving to the poignant, emotionally charged world of Janáček‘s Sonata for Violin and Piano, the concert centres around two works titled Bird as Prophet, one by Robert Schumann, and the other by New York composer Martin Bresnick. Bresnick’s exquisite late 20th Century reflection on Schumann’s haunting miniature will be enhanced through the presence of Martin, who will speak about the origins of both works, looping together music across the centuries. Béla Bártok‘s rustic Roumanian Folk Dances complete this musical journey with a grand finale.
